Primary School
Learn, Share, Laugh & Grow.
Welcome to ANPS Primary School! ANPS Primary ranges from Gr 1 to Gr 5, with the core subjects taught by Western trained, fully qualified English native speakers.
The development of 21 st century skills and preparing our students for university and careers are very important from a young age at ANPS. We employ a range of innovative teaching strategies and assessment models to bring out the best in our subjects. Students are encouraged to speak English any time they are not in a lesson not related to Arabic, to fully develop their use and pronunciation of the language. We have a diverse student and staff body and encourage tolerance and acceptance, in line with the ethos of the UAE. We are very proud of our Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) laboratory at ANPS, in collaboration with ATLAB and LEGO.

Primary students are challenged academically and creatively with a series of tasks, supported by our specialist STEM teacher. They learn vital problem solving skills while using physical and technological resources – and have fun too! Within the classroom, we have an abundance of physical
resources, supported by online resources that the students can access from home.
We believe that democracy is an important concept to teach our children, and we model this through the Parents Council and the Student Council. The Parents Council offer a vital liaison service between the school management and parent community. They listen and advise on parent issues and are an important communication link between the school and parents. They also help to run parent events and help with the rolling out of new school initiatives. The Student Council is run by students, for students. Each class elects their chosen representative after candidates canvas their classmates. The class representatives elect a grade representative who meets the Head of Primary School regularly to give suggestions and advise on student issues.
ANPS Primary is highly focused on academic achievement, with innovative teaching to engage students, continuous assessment to track student progress and benchmarking against UK schools as well as top rated schools around the world. We have a dedicated Learning Support Department to ensure every student is performing to the best of their ability. The student’s emotional well being is also important and students are supported by the school counsellor, supervisors, class teachers and advisors. Weekly assemblies celebrate student achievement, encourage competition and enable classes to collaborate on tasks and performances.
At ANPS, we follow the academically rigorous and respected English National Curriculum. This syllabus begins with the Early Years Foundation Stage and continues right up to the IGCSE years of study and examinations. For the final two years of school we also offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. The English National Curriculum: Sets out the most important knowledge and skills that every child has a right to learn Gives standards that measure how well children are achieving in each subject so that teachers can plan to help them do better Is a framework given to the teachers by the UK government so that all school children are taught in a way that is balanced and manageable, but difficult enough to challenge them A more formal structure ensures that children develop their potential in all areas of the National Curriculum, but especially in the core subjects of English, Math and Science.
English has a pre-eminent place in education and in society. A high-quality education in English will teach pupils to speak and write fluently so that they can communicate their ideas and emotions to others and through their reading and listening, others can communicate with them. Through reading in particular, pupils have a chance to develop culturally, emotionally, intellectually, socially and spiritually. Mathematics is a creative and highly interconnected discipline that has been developed over centuries, providing the solution to some of history’s most intriguing problems. It is essential to everyday life, critical to science, technology and engineering, and necessary for financial literacy and most forms of employment. A high-quality mathematics education therefore provides a foundation for understanding the world, the ability to reason mathematically, an appreciation of the beauty and power of mathematics, and a sense of enjoyment and curiosity about the subject.
A high-quality Science education provides the foundations for understanding the world through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. Science has changed our lives and is vital to the world’s future prosperity, and all pupils should be taught essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science. Through building up a body of key foundational knowledge and concepts, pupils should be encouraged to recognize the power of rational explanation and develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena. They should be encouraged to understand how science can be used to explain what is occurring, predict how things will behave, and analyze causes
